# Speedmap documentation

> Verify identities (NIN, BVN, faces, CAC businesses, bank accounts and fraud signals) through one REST API and an MCP server.

Speedmap is an AI-powered identity verification platform for KYC, KYB, AML and fraud prevention. One API key gives you a single normalized response for every check, whether it is answered by NIMC (through the NIMC-designated verification channel), NIBSS or the CAC register.

Create an account and your workspace starts in test mode: `sk_test_` keys return deterministic results for every outcome and are never billed. When you are ready, complete the compliance review and we switch the workspace live.

Every request is tied to a declared purpose, consent is satisfied before anything reaches a provider, and you choose how much personal data leaves the platform. AI assistants get assertions only: a NIN never enters a model's context window.

## Products

## Base URL

All API requests go to one origin. The key prefix, not the URL, selects test mode or live:

The remote MCP server lives at `http://localhost:4000/mcp`.

## Core concepts

- **Assertions, not records.** Responses lead with `status`, `match` and a masked `summary`. The full normalized record (`data`) is returned only to full-tier accounts on the REST API. See [Response shaping](https://speedmap-delta.vercel.app/docs/response-shaping).
- **Purpose codes.** Identity checks carry a `reason`, one of the [38 NIMC purpose codes](https://speedmap-delta.vercel.app/docs/compliance#purpose-codes). A misdeclared purpose is a licence-level violation, so the list is enforced before a provider is called.
- **Consent first.** Each method has a consent mechanism: your attestation, an in-person selfie, a NINAuth share code, or a [Consent Hub request](https://speedmap-delta.vercel.app/docs/consent) approved by the data subject.
- **Retries are safe.** Send an [`Idempotency-Key`](https://speedmap-delta.vercel.app/docs/idempotency) and a retried request returns the original result and is never billed twice.
